What It Is

1,1,1-Trichloroethane is a chlorinated solvent once widely used for degreasing and cleaning in manufacturing. It has no legitimate use in food or beverages, and its production has been phased out worldwide under the Montreal Protocol because it depletes the ozone layer.

Regulatory Record

What each registry publishes about 1,1,1-trichloroethane.

Every row comes from a published regulator source, linked so you can read it yourself. "Prohibited" means a regulator has affirmatively banned it; "not authorized" means it has never been cleared for that use there. The two are not the same thing, so we never collapse them.
